Will has a canon empathy disorder that combined with his imagination allows him to pick up things about people or completely take on their mentality for a moment.

While most of the show is spent showing him solely using it while looking at crime scenes Will makes a point to tell people he can empathize with Anybody. This is shown in small ways throughout the series (example; walking (not digging thru things) through a family's home he was able to tell an agent about the family's dynamics and key issues the family was having).

Opt-In: Let me know if you are cool with Will picking things up about your character and if so - what! It can very much be a build up of information with Will picking up on small things about your character over time or maybe your character wears everything on your sleeve! I am always down to discuss it.

Opt-Out: Hannibal is a very dark show and Will's mind is not a tasty place to be. Topics that might come up in conversation or Will's thoughts are: murder, gas-lighting, mental illness, desire to murder, death(s) both witnessed and one he wishes to cause), cannibalism, and over dark topics. If there are any topics you want avoided please let me know! I can easy make sure not to mention them if our characters interact.

Opting in for both of my characters (Jun here, Otoha is [personal profile] bakegarasu).

Things he might pick up:

Jun: Underfed, sarcastic, went through some sort of intense trauma (he'll talk freely about the murdergame he was in, his own canon shit requires more digging). Loud as a defensive measure, but when he's quiet he's definitely observing and remembering things.

Otoha: Relatively quiet, carries a sword with him, might or might not mention he was in the yakuza, might or might not mention that he's the guardian of a city. He's deliberately casual in his stance and speech a lot of the time, and he sees no problem with murder as a solution sometimes. It's also obvious that he feels no pain if Will watches him long enough - he'll get cut and not react at all, for example.

/slides in here super late!!!

Opting in for Aerith (thiiiis journal right here)! Aerith is open with a lot of things but feel free to have Will glean the Big Spoilers from her over time or sooner than later as you see fit! I will say I've only gotten a couple episodes into Hannibal (I love it but I need Breaks between episodes, it's good but it's a lot), but I absolutely adore Will and am excited to see where things go!

I'm totally on board with Will picking up on things about Nebula. Although to be perfectly honest she's not always that hard to read! She's a walking cyborg disaster with traumas on top of traumas. Not sure if you're canon familiar but if not each part of her cyborg anatomy was put there by an adoptive father (who killed her parents and half her planet) who would remove parts of her every time she failed or was bested by her adoptive sister. So... yeah, she's got issues.

So Annie has a lot of trauma issues. Those I can seed in narratively as once she starts trusting Will. The fact she has trust issues is something that can basically be seen from orbit by anyone who knows how to read people. She's also good at layering her masks and presenting herself the way she wants to be seen. A bubbly friendly girl who just wants to be friends with everyone.

She also has depression related problems due to wanting to be perfect and get things right the first time. Not succeeding just pokes at her insecurities about not being enough. That'll be a real trip if they get to talking about that.

Will, Lio is not always a good choice for mental state

Kidding aside, Lio presents himself as a super ice cold and collected guy and is quite charismatic, but he's extremely passionate about the people he considers family, about protecting them, and has a fiery temper that's poorly managed sometimes.

Lio also pretty much grew up alone without anyone taking care of him and per headcanon, his parents sold him out to the police so theres lots of trust issues there.

Casper is much the same in terms of being perceptive, so I'm cool with it. Casper's the kind of guy who wears most of his heart on his sleeve and is much more able to be open about his problems and issues so he really isn't hard to read.

Honestly he can pick up a ton about Casper personality-wise, but one physical thing to note - he favors one of his legs over the other just slightly, and depending on how good his hearing is Will might hear the slightest of metallic noises from his bad leg. He's got a prosthetic for the lower half of that leg, though it's very high quality (magical) metal.
